Title: The Rhythm of Respect
During this high-energy, musical program of interactive exercises, dancing, and singing, students will learn about rhythm and how it relates to respecting ourselves, others, and the earth. Cosgrove encourages students to express personal rhythm in everyday activities such as homework, music, and sports while emphasizing respect for others. Dozens of students are selected from the audience to perform on stage in several impromptu “jam” sessions while learning how to demonstrate self expression and positive audience participation skills. Teachers even have a chance to express their rhythm during a grand finale.
Program Length: 45-50 minutes – Maximum Audience Size: 300 students
Set up Requirements: Jim provides his own sound system and requires access to an electrical outlet. Please allow 20-30 minutes for both set up and break down of equipment. The school must provide a space no smaller than 12ft deep by 25ft wide. A gymnasium floor is adequate – no bleachers. Please seat students on the floor, with a middle aisle.
Title: The Rhythm of Emotions
This interactive musical and literary performance focuses on the range of emotions we can all feel throughout the day and will heighten students’ awareness of their own emotional intelligence. Jim will read his book Sullen Sally, which is a celebration of friendship and a reminder that nobody is expected to feel happy all the time.
